About SZ:

2013 – current
SZirine Social is a knowledge-based social network of individuals who form relations and social bonds based on intellectual merit and activity. Therefore, our whole social graph is based on more meaningful and substantial relations, our online activities are less frequent and more in-depth, and our events section is closely linked to cultural and intellectual events and activities.

For example, SZirine status updates have a minimal length of 141 characters (eat that Twitter) to encourage users to update their status on their SZirine timeline less frequent but with more meaningful messages (Facebook sucks). Our Featured Posts section and SZirine Magazine encourage people to share and contribute their opinions, activities and insights with others, and the Interest Groups, Cultural Events and SZirine Recommendations drive the social interaction with other members.

In the summer of 2013, SZirine Social was reborn as a knowledge-based social network out of the ashes of SZirine Magazine (2003-2006).

2003-2006
From 2003 until 2006, SZirine Magazine was an online literary magazine on cultures and subcultures. SZirine Magazine published only contributions that were written from the ‘insider perspective’. Working with a small staff of editors, SZirine published stories over 100 contributions by around 70 authors from around 50 countries. SZirine Magazine was recognized as a 501(c) non-profit organization, and listed by UNESCO.

Founding members: Rem Koh De, Charlene A. Caprio, James A. Shivers. Editorial staff: Dalia Abdel Megeed, April Hunt.
